experimentation and posters

Used a newfound balloon twisting skill to create 3-dimensional typographic letterforms. Photographed and integrated into 2-dimensional posters. Incorporated balloon type with balloon animals, digitally manipulated color, creating vibrant and silly posters.

the process pt. 1

First learned the techniques of balloon twisting, involving understanding the best ways of blowing balloons, tying them off, shaping animals, etc. Overcame challenges such as the balloons popping, the pump breaking several times, and finding space to put my growing pile of balloon animals.

the process pt. 2

Used a new understanding of balloons to design my first letterform. Quickly learned that it was difficult to follow a planned design and it was easier to just wing it as I go. Took several phases in order to get a stable design.

the process pt. 3

Formed other versions of the letter “A” to experiment with font styles, weight, size, serif, sans serif, etc. Also choosing certain styles to further create necessary letters for poster designs. (seen at top of page).
